RACHEL HOEHN -
DECORATIVE FUNCTIONAL POTTERY

Rachel Hoehn is an artist and an art teacher in the Oak Cliff area. Rachel grew up in a very artistic family here in Oak Cliff. Her dad was an amateur cartoonist and her mom made sure her children always had art supplies available. The family attended many galleries and museums all over the Dallas/Ft Worth area. After graduating from Sunset High School she attended college at Hendrix College a small liberal arts college in Arkansas. It was there that her love for pottery and art history began. After graduating from college she further developed her pottery skills by attending art class at Northlake College once a week for many years until she had a studio of her own.

She has received Teacher of the Year at two different schools. Her shows include Works in Clay - Irving Arts Center, TVAA Citation Exhibition - San Jacinto Tower, Student Spotlight Show - Northlake College, Las Cruces de la Vida - Bath House Cultural Center, DAEA Professional Show - Dallas City Hall, Making it in Clay - Northlake College, DAEA Professional Show - City Place, Forms in Clay Show - Texas Clay Artists Exhibit, DAEA Professional Show - African American Museum.

She is also a member of the Oak Cliff Artisans and has participated in many of their events. Although she uses many different media in both of her teaching and personal works she prefer to work primarily with clay. She has used clay to make sculptures, pots, bowls, tile pieces, and her own unique creations. Rachel gets her inspirations from everywhere such as shopping malls, restaurants, art shows, catalogs, and even her students.
