Crosses

I have always been drawn to “primitive” art and objects, much of which is really not primitive at all, like African masks and items such as baskets, textiles and wood implements that encompass both the spiritual life of the maker and the needs of daily existence.

I love the natural – sea shells, rocks, driftwood, fossils, seeds pods, as well as old and rusty objects that tell of their past.

As an avid estate sale shopper, I gradually acquired quite a collection of old things, including some rusty old hand tools which had a sculptural quality about them.

Playing with the tools one day, I discovered myself putting them together in the form of a cross. And – voila – I was a maker of crosses!
